A part of the Material Anatomies exhibition by Professor Sophie Gaur in the Emily Carr Library.
This project examines the change within the human skeleton during pregnancy, highlighting the ribs that move outwards 2-3 inches as the fetus grows and the organs shift. This model explores the extremity of physical change in pregnancy down to one’s skeletal structure, something that has always inspired both fascination and discomfort for me. Through this model, I aimed to honour the almost superhuman capabilities of the female anatomy and speak to the strength of those who have carried children in this lifetime
